What is Piris?

Piris is a free AI shopping assistant for consumer tech, made by visseo in Antwerp, Belgium. You describe what you need in your own words, for example "a light laptop for uni with all-day battery under €900", and Piris compares specs, reviews and prices to shortlist the products that fit.

How does Piris find the right tech product for me?

Piris reads your request, works out what matters for your use case (such as battery life, weight, performance or camera quality) and matches it against product specifications, current prices and shipping costs. It also summarises what reviews say about each product, then shows a short list of options and explains in plain language why each one fits your needs and budget.

Is Piris free to use?

Yes. Piris is free and you don't need an account. You can type a request and get recommendations straight away.

Does Piris sell products?

No. Piris is an advisor, not a shop. When you choose a product, Piris links you to the retailer, and you buy it there under that retailer's terms, prices and delivery conditions.

How does Piris make money?

Some links to retailers are affiliate links. If you buy through one, visseo may receive a small commission from the retailer. The price you pay stays the same, and commissions do not affect which products Piris recommends.

Are Piris recommendations independent?

Yes. Piris ranks products by how well they match your request and budget, not by commission. Retailers cannot pay to be placed higher in the results.

Which products can Piris help me choose?

Piris focuses on consumer tech: laptops, smartphones, tablets, headphones and earbuds, monitors, TVs, cameras, smartwatches, Wi-Fi routers and mesh systems, and smart-home devices.

How should I describe what I'm looking for?

Write it like you would tell a friend who knows tech: what you'll use it for, your budget, and anything that matters to you. For example: "Earbuds for running that don't fall out, good for calls, under €150." The more context you give, the better the shortlist.

How accurate are the prices Piris shows?

Piris uses the latest prices available to it, but retailers change prices and stock often. Always check the final price and availability on the retailer's page before you buy.

Is my data safe with Piris?

Piris is operated from Belgium and follows the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You don't need an account, Piris sets no tracking cookies, and your requests are only used to generate recommendations. Details are in the privacy policy.

Buying tech: common questions

How much RAM do I need in a laptop?

For browsing, office work and video calls, 16 GB of RAM is a good baseline today. Choose 32 GB for video editing, software development, virtual machines or heavy multitasking. 8 GB still works for very light use, but it limits how long the laptop stays comfortable to use.

How many years of software updates should a smartphone get?

Aim for at least five years of updates. Since June 2025, EU ecodesign rules require manufacturers to provide operating-system updates for at least five years after a phone model stops being sold, and several brands now promise up to seven years. Longer support means a safer phone that lasts longer.

Is OLED or Mini-LED better for a monitor or TV?

OLED gives perfect blacks, very high contrast and fast response, which is great for films, gaming and dark rooms. Mini-LED gets brighter and has no burn-in risk, which suits bright rooms and static content like office work. Choose based on your room light and what you mostly watch.

What is the difference between Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7?

Wi-Fi 6 uses the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6 GHz band, which is less crowded and faster over short distances. Wi-Fi 7 adds wider channels and can use several bands at once for higher speed and lower latency. Your devices must support the newer standard to benefit.

Are headphones or earbuds better for flights?

Over-ear noise-cancelling headphones usually block engine noise better and are more comfortable for long flights. Noise-cancelling earbuds are smaller and easier to sleep in. For long-haul travel, over-ear headphones with strong active noise cancellation and 30+ hours of battery are the safer choice.

When is the best time to buy tech in Europe?

Prices usually drop around Black Friday and Cyber Monday in late November, during spring and summer sales, and shortly after a new model launches, when the previous generation gets cheaper. Tracking prices for a few weeks before buying helps you spot a real discount.

Is it worth buying refurbished tech?

Refurbished tech can save 20–40% and is often in very good condition. Buy from a seller that grades condition clearly, replaces the battery when it is worn, and gives a warranty of at least one year. In the EU, sellers may shorten the legal guarantee for used goods to one year.

What warranty do I get when I buy electronics in the EU?

In the EU, the seller must give you a legal guarantee of at least two years on new products. If you buy online from an EU seller, you can also cancel within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. A manufacturer's warranty comes on top of these rights.

How do I choose the right laptop for university?

Look for a laptop under 1.5 kg with at least 10 hours of real-world battery life, 16 GB of RAM, a 512 GB SSD and a sharp, bright screen. Check which software your course needs, for example design or engineering programs that require Windows or a stronger graphics chip.

What matters most when choosing a monitor for photo editing?

Choose an IPS or OLED panel with high colour accuracy (close to 100% sRGB and good DCI-P3 coverage), at least 1440p resolution at 27 inches, and a factory calibration report. USB-C with power delivery is convenient if you connect a laptop.
